Process

  • CARDING AND SPINNING - The cotton threads are spun into yarn for the process of weaving.
  • DYEING AND PLYING – The yarns are dyed by our experienced artisans with accurate precision to match the colors with the selected ones. Different techniques are use to dye different materials like cotton, wool, chenille, silk, viscose.
  • SETTING THE BACKBONE OF THE LOOM - It holds the warp beams and helps in steady movement of the same.
  • SETTING THE ‘’TANA’’ - Rolls of white strong thread are pulled and tied to the loom with preciseness. The ‘’tana’ ’should not be left loose.
  • STARTING TO WEAVE DHURRIE – Weft is interlaced with the warp and sealed, so that the weft yarns does not move in fact stays tight and straight.
  • PASSING THE WEFT YARN – In the space between alternative warp, the weft yarn is passed from one end to the other side tightly, according to the designs.
  • THE USE OF PANJA – Panja being the most essential part, is used by the craftsmen to beat and set the threads in the warp. It tightens the weft yarn against the warp so that there is no spaces left in the dhurrie.
  • INTERLOCKING – The dhurrie is pulled towards the craftsmen, the punja is again used to push the weft yarn towards the start of the dhurrie. This process is continued throughout according to the designs required.
  • WASHING – Dhurrie are then washed to remove all the dirt and left to dry.
  • BINDING AND FINISHING – Once the entire dhurrie is finishes and is washed, the edges are binded or are cut in fringes to give a traditional look & the unwanted threads are removed to give a neat finishing.
  • QUALITY CHECK – Quality check involves checking if the product is within specifications and reliable.
  • PACKAGING – The product is packed and secured efficiently so it reaches the customer the same way it was made.

Flat weave dhurries are made with a patented weaving technique and is perfected with a use of Punja, a metallic claw that is used to set the threads because of which the dhurries are known for high quality, sturdiness, and long-lasting nature.
